Searching for Books and Quizzes

You can use the search capability to find book and quiz information. You can determine if you have a particular book, and/or a quiz for the book. To search for book and quiz information:

From the AR BookGuide Home page, under Title and List Management, click Book/Quiz Search. You have two ways of searching, Quick Search and Advanced Search.

Quick Search

The Quick Search dialog box is the default search panel. Use it to quickly find a specific book or quiz title when you have title, author, quiz number, or ISBN number.

  1. In the Quick Search dialog box that opens, click on a radio button for Contains, or Starts with, or Exact phrase. In the text box below the radio buttons, you can enter a title, author, quiz number or ISBN number.

  2. In the Titles per page box, you can click on the drop-down list and select the number of titles that will appear on each page. Click Search. See Search Results.

Advanced Search

Click Advanced Search in the Quick Search dialog box for expanded search options. You would use Advanced Search when you want to expand or define your search results by entering more detailed information before you search.

  1. In the Advanced Search panel, click on a radio button for Contains, Starts with, or Exact phrase. In the text boxes below the radio buttons, you can enter Title, Author, or Publisher.

  2. You can select Fiction, Nonfiction, or both by clicking in the drop-down list, then set Points range. At language you can select Spanish, English, or both. If you select an Interest Level (lower grades, middle grades, or upper grades), you can enter a Book Level range. In the Topics and Subtopics drop-down lists, you can also make selections to narrow your search.

  3. If you have defined Custom Fields, you can select a value you have set, Any Value or Not Assigned in either drop-down list for the user-defined Custom Fields. See Preferences to define Custom Fields.

  4. Under Book and Quiz ownership status, next to Reading Practice (RP), Recorded Voice (RV), Literacy Skills (LS), Vocabulary Practice (VP), or Book, you can click Any, Yes, or No.

  5. If you know where the book is located, you can choose the location; the default is Any Book Location.

  6. If you know when the quiz was released, select from the past 7, 15, 30, 60, 90 or 180 days from the Quiz Released drop-down list.

  7. Select Reading Practice (RP), Literacy Skills (LS), Vocabulary Practice (VP), or Recorded Voice (RV) from the Quiz Type drop-down list if you know the specific type of quiz you're searching for.

  8. In the Titles per page box, select 10, 20 (default), 30, 40, 50, 75, or 100 for the number of titles that will appear on each page.

  9. Click Search. See Search Results. If you want to search again, and need to reset all of the fields, click the Reset all Fields link in the lower-right corner.
